During 6 months of 2006 I was an artist in residence in Helmsdale, Sutherland, producing an artwork – ‘Migration’ – 9’ x 55’, on the Harbour wall as part of the residency. Sutherland is the most incredible landscape and I will try to work in the North of Scotland again.

The residency caused me to become deeply involved with this area of Scotland. It is a truly wild area full of wild life which was very stimulating for me. It is also an important area for birds, fish and mammal migrations.

The art work in Helmsdale was part funded by Scottish Natural Heritage. With thanks to: Scottish Arts Council, North Highland Leader +, Sutherland Area Art’s Officer, John Porteous from Wallace Stone & Partners, D. Gow & Son.
